So he had disobeyed his own personal rules, and now he had got hurt. It would not be the first or last time he injured himself doing something stupid. Inspecting the jagged cut running down his arm he decided he had got out all the major pieces of glass himself. But it would need stitches. Hence why he had been forced to come to the medical centre in the first place.

"Bloody hell Aaron! What the heck did you do to yourself!" Zoya asked as she burst in unexpectedly on him. "What, were you doing?" She questioned, raising an eyebrow and surveying the cut on his arm. She had to stop short in her scolding by a phone call and giving him one last glare, Zoya stepped out of the room.

"Nice, I am clearly bleeding to death and I get yelled at" Aaron protested, sticking his tongue out rather childishly when she turned to walk away. He rolled his eyes and soon found a nurse who would be willing to stitch him up. He began to chat away to her "see this is how I am treated - it is partner abuse, I tell you!"

"Partner abuse? You haven't seen partner abuse!" Zoya shot back as the nurse stepped in front of Aaron protectively. "And get your new girl off my path. Seriously, I am not going to kill him. I need him till the case gets solved." She snapped, whatever the phone call had been about, it clearly hadn't helped her mood.

Waiting impatiently for the nurse to move on to the next patient she stepped closer to Aaron's bed. "One thing, you are not bleeding to death. Second, I don't even know how in the world you managed to get hurt, and third and by far the most important, the first official arrest has been made."

"I am a detective! Of course I have seen partner abuse!" Aaron replied triumphantly once again sticking his tongue out, he then turned to the nurse "don't mind her hunny, she does not know how to interact with other human beings. If I need you then I will make sure to yell." He then winked at her and she nodded and moved away to another patient, happy that Aaron was not in danger, in her hospital. Though she did still refuse to let him leave without getting an MRI to check that all the glass was out.

"You heard the women, if the glass inside my arm moves between now and the MRI to show were it is, then it could rupture a major artery ... are you sure you want your last words to me ever to be so mean? I got hurt because I fell through a window ... an arrest? What arrest? Who did they arrest? Why did I not hear this? Oh yeah because I was busy falling through windows - that would explain it!"

"Why were you falling through windows? Isn't it your fault?!" Zoya shot back incredulously, rolling her eyes at the nurse who was hovering around looking as if Zoya would strangle Aaron then and there. "And fine! If you don't want me to me around spoiling your sick day, then I will go and interview the suspect myself." She snapped as she turned. She had no sympathy for people who hurt themselves in completely avoidable situations. Plus, when she heard about Aaron, she was genuinely worried but she wasn't that good with showing her concern so she just snapped at him, scolding him to be more careful.

"No come on Zo, don't be that way ... I want to know! Who is it? Tell me?" Aaron replied hastily pouting and making to follow her, but the nurse forced him back into his seat. She was not letting him go without that MRI. Grumbling he argued with her for a moment before he complied and signing a 'leaving against medical advice' form, he hurried after Zoya. He could get the MRI later. What is the worse a little bit of glass could do? "So which suspect are we interviewing ... come on, tell me everything!" He was avoiding the question about the glass window because it was embarrassing and he did not want to tell her what had really happened. How Cassandra had been throwing things at him and accidents had happened ...

"Aaron get your ass back on the bed, right NOW!" Zoya snapped as she turned, her eyes challenging him to question. "Look, I don't want any blood over my shirt, it gives the wrong impression to policemen and okay, I will tell you who is arrested but you must tell me how the freakin' hell did you throw yourself out of the window! But first, you are going back to the bed."

After a while of thinking, she added, "And we aren't interviewing anyone. I am. We are already two weeks behind and i am not delaying anymore."

"I am fine, and I am not getting back into bed, my arm is all stitched up and a little bit of glass is not going to do much. So either you let me come interview, or I am going to hit the pub, but either way I am leaving here right now" Aaron firmly replied with a shrug and a nod "so which one I guess is up to you. In answer to your other question, Cassandra threw a chair at me, and I jumped backwards out the way and did not realize I was quite so close to the window ... which were large whole wall, killer view, windows."

"So what was all that about you almost dying if the glass cut a major artery?" Zoya reminded, not budging from her stance of not letting Aaron come with her. "Besides, even I don't know who got arrested, its a very high profile case and the police want to keep all media attention away from the case. they aren't letting any details out."

It was true, to get the suspects side of story, she would have to either pose as his lawyer or break in. Everyone knows the police didn't like PIs and especially not the PIs who cause bar fights every week, like Zoya did.

"I was teasing you - it is not going to burst an artery - it is fine" Aaron insisted with another nod as he thought more about helping with the case and less about dealing with his arm "and you know you will do better with my help! Come on ... let me come!"

"Fine, but you are not coming with me. I need someone to stay in the office and lie on the phone." Zoya explained, giving in with a roll of her eyes. Normally, she would never give in, she was very stubborn, but with Aaron, she usually let go. It was true, she was going to bluff and say she was the arrested persons advocate so that she could speak to him. For that, she was sure she needed someone as backup.

Her eyes flashed in anger as her mind suddenly reminded her the reason why Aaron was in the hospital in the first place. "Wait a minute, you mean bloody Barbie did this to you?" Her voice partly amused and partly angry.

"Yeah well, yes she did" Aaron replied after a pause "she thought I was cheating on her. Because she popped over and found Rosalie at my apartment. The girl was only collecting her VIP pass ... but Cassie threw a fit and started throwing things. I think Rosalie came off worse than me, I deposited her here and they took her straight off. But the nurse said to go away and stop pestering her about it" Aaron finished as he glanced in the direction of the staff only doors and then back at Zoya. He had no wish to hang around and dwell, he wanted to get out and get going. Even if something about Cassie's story had seemed off, he still wondered how she had been such a good shot ... "So phones, lying, awesome ..."

"That chick is seriously sick! And have you checked up on Rosalie, now?" Zoya asked, fighting the urge to say 'told ya so!' to Aaron because well, she had told him that something was off with that slut barbie. Yawning, she hitched up her bag higher and added, "I just came to see if you are alright, now that you are, I should get going."

She was tired, yesterday she had spent the entire night rechecking Hunter's schedule and researching daggers. Blinking as she shook herself, she fished out the business cards of all the law firms around Savannah and handed them to Aaron. "Half an hour. Meet me near the offices of the first firm, we have research to do. And till that time, please get that scan done."

"Yeah, yeah" Aaron replied, for the first time ever not teasing her about bossing him around, and taking the card stomped back over to the nurse and grunted something. She nodded and set about dragging him away towards the CIT scanning room. Aaron read the card while he went and grumbled the entire way.

Zoya waved cheerfully back to Aaron, ignoring his scowling and grumbling and blowing him a kiss with a cheeky smile. She liked being in control of situations, it was very reassuring and whenever things go the way she had planned, it gave her an immense feeling of calmness and peacefulness. And seeing that valentine's day was literally around the corner, she was going to need every little bit of her good mood to sustain the holiday without killing someone.
