Zach was on the other side of the field, doing his drills while wondering what the hell they're talking about because he heard some words that were said aloud. He sighed and stopped for a moment to wipe his face with his shirt. The weather here was hotter than back in NY.

"Good enough to lose." Jake commented as he started putting the cones over each other and he gestured for the rest of them to do the same. They had to do a few floors and then a game. He wiped some sweat off the side of his neck and grit his teeth.

"Good enough to sink a goal past Barnaby. Right?" He said turning his head to ask Barnaby.

"Good enough that you had to stay in the benches." Jake said back to Alex, looking amused. He finished taking all the cones and he placed them in the side with all the other equipment before stretching his hands and yawning. "About time we had a game."

"Sprained ankle's don't count Jakey boy." He grinned remebering the fall. "I shotgun midfielder." He said. Hearing some groans coming from some of the kids who had also come to try out for centre midfield.

"If you were so good, Williams, you wouldn't have had a sprain int he first place." Jake laughed and held a ball up. "Split into two groups. It's time we had some real action." He threw the ball towards Alex before he sprinted to the side of the field, pulling his shirt off. His skin was glistening with sweat and he pulled a fresh shirt out of his bag and put it on.

"Come on."

"Jeez always on the run." He muttered before splitting into one of the teams.

"I was not designed for goalie, I was designed for defence, I want to say that now before you tell anyone else about that little goal ... or the other little goals that followed it. Plus your the one who stopped to chat in the middle of a game and let her walk away with the ball" Barnaby replied to Alex because he had to make sure he said his piece, he then rolled his sleeves up to his elbows and nodded "awesome - lets play ball!"

"We doing shirts and skins?" Barnaby asked "and not because I want the excuse before anyone comments ..." he assumed he would be on one team, and Jake the other, even teams even captain spread. "it just seems so much easier than any of the other options ..."

Jake position himself along with Zachary and his group and Barnaby with Alex with the other. He threw the ball up to signal the start just as he kicked it off.

"Get used to it that's my specialty." He smiled at Barnaby before turning to the cheerleaders who had been trying to steal their field 10 minutes before. "Call me ladys." He winked as he heard a few muffled giggles escape from some of the girls. "But I wanna go with Zach." He complained to Jake like a 5 year old.

"Well too bad." Jake laughed and walked backwards to their end of the field. "Maybe next time, Williams when you learn to stop whining about almost anything that you don't like." He pushed the ball forward and nodded to the rest of the team to see if they should start.

"I Don't whine. I just go on about my opinion." He grinned.

Zach was already on his position and he gave Alex a confused look, "Don't Zachy me. Just get your ass to your position." he rolled his eyes playfully.

"You know I won't held back mate." he warned him and took his position while waiting for Jake and the others.

"You know you will." He grinned.

"Both of you save your remarks for later. You'll need the moral support when your asses are on the grass." Jake tapped Zach's shoulder as he passed him. With a sigh, he glanced at the referee he assigned and waited for the whistle.

Zach glanced at Jake and looked back at Alex with a mischievous grin that match his. He waited impatiently for the referee while focusing on the ball in front of him then he scanned the field for a blind spot. He looked back at Jake, he must be their center forward if not the playmaker whilst Zach's a striker.

Alex sat down on the ground. He didn't know why, but he did anyway. He started humming lightly as he waited for the ref.

"Have we introduced the naughty spot? As opposed to the naughty chair?" Barnaby asked with amusement and a raised eyebrow as he watched the exchange from his position - waiting for the referee - before he added by way of explanation "it is the only sane reason I can think of for why Alex is sitting on the floor during training. He really never could understand that kid, or how he was even on the football team. But his not to question why just because he was co-captain.

"Totally." He laughed. "Now can someone please kick off?" Alex asked, impatient.

(shouldn't we wait for Lucas?)

Zach laughed at them and shook his head. He crouched down to fix his shoelaces while still waiting for the referee.

Soon after a loud whistle, the ball was kicked off to start the game. Jake sprinted for possession, weaving through the barrage of bodies towards the ball. He shot Zachary a look just as he took possession, tackling the ball off one of the players of the opposing team.

"Hey!" Alex said unfairly as Jake took the ball of him. "I needed that so I could score a goal." He said annoyed. Before sprinting off after Jake.

Zach already sprinted off and dodging the defenders while keeping an eye on Jake. He grinned a little when he saw the sign, he knew Jake would got the ball that's why he stole the first run. His back was facing the goal and he waited for Jake's pass.

"Exactly why I took it from you, idiot." Jake laughed, slipping past another defender. He skidded to the side when he saw another one blocking his way and he passed the ball to one of his team mates before moving forward. The guy with the ball was soon overtaken by the opposite team and Jake cussed before he made for it, sprinting off the heels of his shoes for the ball before Alex could get his feet on it.

"Oh, it's on." Alex said rushing up to Jake as he went in for a slide tackle.
